Cast Iron Potholders (Skillet Socks)--Multiple Options!
Keep yourself from accidentally grabbing your cast iron skillet and burning your hands! These cute little cast iron pan handle covers (aka skillet socks) are perfect for anyone transitioning away from plastic coated pans.
They're made with two layers of upcycled unused cotton remnants + two layers of insulating fabric inside to protect your hands.
A great complement to any zero waste kitchen. Pair with the Cast Iron Conditioner and get your skillet sock for just $3.
SIZE & DESIGN
Each skillet sock measures approx. 5.5" long x 2.25" wide. Slight variations may occur as each sock is handmade. Socks are made from unused fabric remnants rather than creating a need for using more resources in making new fabric, so patterns vary slightly.
I had a few daredevil customers ask 'just how many hours and how high the heat could be for leaving these on the pan…' so this new batch has double the layers of insulation as the old one.
To clarify, it’s like using an other potholder- it will keep your hand protected but not if you max out the heat on your burner for prolonged periods of time or grip the handle to close to the base of the pan.
Machine washable (preferably cold since that's better for the environment!)
Line dry-- do not put in dryer due to insulating material inside.
End of Life
Cotton fabric & thread can be composted and interior layer can be upcycled or recycled with textile recyclers like Terracycle.
