We are currently hiring for two part-time Sales Associate positions beginning August 22, 2026!

Job Summary

Vintage Green Review is NOLA's Sustainable Goods & Refill Store, a modern sustainable general store offering eco-friendly, plastic-free alternatives for everyday living. We are a local, independent small business selling more than 600 eco products, including everything from kitchenwares to refillable cleaning supplies, skincare, gifts, vegan gourmet treats, and more.

We are seeking a positive, energetic, dependable sales associate who demonstrates enthusiasm and optimism for helping people live healthier, more sustainable lives that reduce our human impact on animals and the environment.

In this dynamic role, you will engage with customers to understand their needs and questions about sustainability. You'll ensure a welcoming, nonjudgmental shopping experience that inspires and encourages people to reduce their household waste, one step at a time, while providing relevant advice on the benefits and use of our sustainable, plastic-free products.

Your organizational skills and high-level attention to detail will help maintain a well-stocked, attractive store environment while promoting the advantages and benefits of our wide range of sustainable goods. Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly, and assist them in selecting products related to sustainability, waste reduction, plastic-free living, and refillables.
Provide knowledgeable recommendations on the benefits and efficacy of our natural products to enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales
Operate Shopify POS (Point of Sale) system for updating customer records, and processing purchases and related transactions efficiently and correctly
Assist with inventory, including counting or receiving orders and items
Maintain store organization through merchandising, stocking shelves, light cleaning, and ensuring product displays are attractive, tidy, and accessible.
Communicate effectively with customers in person to answer questions about products

Work Hours & Benefits

Hourly wage: $18.00
We have two available positions, each working approximately 9.5 hours per week :
--Position A hours are every Saturday from 10:30am-2:30pm and every Sunday from 11:30am-4:00pm
--Position B hours are every Saturday from 2:30pm-6:30pm and every Sunday from 12:00pm-4:30pm
Additional hours will be available during the holiday season and for special events or staff vacation coverage throughout the year.
Employees will also receive a 20% employee discount on items purchased for their own personal use.

You’re welcoming and nonjudgemental toward all types of people. We serve many different types of customers, from local neighborhood regulars to people who travel from around the state to visit our store who are excited about adopting a healthier, low-waste lifestyle
A strong innate ability to read the room and understand people’s vibes, their body language, and intuit their needs, such as when do they want more help, or when does it appear they need more space and just want to browse alone. You can sense as you’re conversing with someone what is the right amount of information that informs them of a product’s benefits without being overwhelming.
Sales experience and knowledge of relevant strategies for how & when the timing is right to upsell, add on, or suggest an in-store alternative product to customers. Knowledge of sustainable products is a plus but not required—we can teach you that!
Experience with POS systems (Shopify is a plus), cashiering, retail math, and cash handling procedures.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in English; knowledge of Spanish or French is a bonus
Proven organizational skills for merchandising, stocking, and maintaining store displays.
Comfortable working in a small space with others. Our store is only 600 square feet and it can get crowded on busy days! You will be working with another team member during most shifts. We have many regular repeat customers who you will get to know over time and build relationships with.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail setting — you complete work quickly but thoroughly, multi-task well, and are comfortable switching tasks or interrupting work as needed to serve customers.
Working your regular shifts every weekend in October, November and December is required. No time off requests will be approved during these months. It’s the busiest time of year for us and an important season for new people to discover our eco-friendly resources. Thus we are seeking applicants who do not travel out of town for the holidays.
There will be the opportunity for more hours during our busiest season —It’s a plus if you can cover extra shifts around special events or for other team members during vacation times. Maybe you’re a grad student, a stay at home mom looking for some side income, recently retired, or have other flexible work that meshes well with our schedule. We prefer to schedule up to 6 months in advance so you will have plenty of notice and the security of a well-planned schedule from an organized manager!
